Dear Friends in Christ,
You are part of a faithful Christian journey and servant-based legacy that has existed here at the First
Christian Church of Lamar for almost one hundred fifty years. Much has changed in those years and
2020 was a year of tremendous change across our church community, state and nation. Despite life’s
obstacles, First Christian Church of Lamar has continued to forge a path into the future including plans
for a new Family Life Center.

A new Family Life Center requires the same kind of faith and commitment that our church founders
demonstrated many years ago. The church board and steering committee have been actively working
with representatives from RE Smith Construction. The church board has approved the project and
has authorized the initial expenditure of $820,014 to commence and complete construction of the
building shell. This first phase includes all concrete work and enclosure of the building, but does not
include electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling or any fixtures other than the basketball goals. Other
phases will be completed as God blesses us (those costs are estimated in the $750,000-$1,000,000

The new Family Life Center will be built to the east of the east wing of our present church building. It
will contain a new kitchen, restrooms, a gathering space for meals, congregational meetings,
programs and activities, and other community-based functions. It is not, however, extravagant in any
way. Our church has expanded at different times in its past and each time the Lord blessed us with
growth, not only in numbers but spiritually.

On Sunday, April 18th, we will begin the celebration of our 150th anniversary as a church and have
our Giving Day/Day of Commitment for this project.

Every gift, large or small, helps. Your gift may be given at any time before April 18th and be counted
as part of that offering. Our hope and prayer is that you will make a contribution or pledge and help
continue the legacy of service that the First Christian Church of Lamar has created for our members
and our community. That legacy of service will also be honored in the 10% tithe to missions pledge
the board has committed as part of this project. We pray God bestows peace on your heart and joy in
your giving.

With God’s Blessings,
The Elders of Lamar First Christian Church

  • Online Giving Opportunity

In an effort to be faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us, we are now offering another option to be a generous believer.

You are now able to give online, anytime, anywhere just by using the QR code here or the link at the bottom of this announcement.  We are offering the online giving as just one option to give to God's work here at FCC.  We are not trying to increase our offerings; we want to offer different options so that everyone can receive the blessing of giving.

"Remember this:  whoever shows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."  2 Corinthians 9:6-7

We will continue to accept cash and checks as always.  You may also be able to set up reoccurring giving with your bank with no fees.
